Railway office fit out

Skewed was engaged to complete the Architectural design and documentation of the office fit-out.

The existing space was a decommissioned café, in a new mixed-use tower in the inner city suburb of Milton. The client required an additional floor area to house their team, so a mezzanine space was introduced. The addition of the mezzanine meant designing a structure within very tight tolerances, to meet height compliance requirements.

The material palette creates a warm and inviting space, using timber flooring for the high-traffic entry space, and the stone feature wall in the boardroom draws you into the space. The resulting spaces are light, spacious and modern, providing a great space for the client and their business operations.

Nathan and Skewed were an absolute pleasure to deal with. I was able to walk through the space before we started building with a VR headset and see in real time how the office would look. Very professional outfit available for changes at very short notice.

Hawbridge Bathrooms

Bathroom and Ensuite Renovation

Builder: P.1nt One Projects
Images: Skewed

The 40-year-old bathroom and ensuite were falling apart and not functional for a young family.

The existing bathroom was reconfigured to provide more open space, through the integration of the bath and shower into one space. The relocation of the vanity unit provides a clear open space when you enter the room, and space for the hanging of wet towels.

The ensuite space maintained its current configuration, whilst creating a larger shower space, and a vanity installed at a more suitable and usable height, no longer constrained by the existing window sill height.

The finishes and fixtures were selected to provide an inviting relaxing spaces that added value to the existing residence, through simple large format tiles, timber veneer, and white stone, with the blue feature tile providing a connection to the outside sky. The overall design style was selected specifically not to follow current design trends, so that the spaces wouldn’t date, and to fit in well with the architectural style of the house.

Claude & Me

Claude & Me jewellery store fitout - Milton, Brisbane

Shopfitter: Trivision

Skewed was engaged to provide Architectural design and documentation services for the retail store fit out.

The brief for Claude & Me was to create a space to showcase high-end jewellery and watches. The space was originally home to a long-term Jewellery store, and the fit-out was past re-use.

The design response was to create a jewellery box to house and display the stock. The store takes a personal approach with its customers, often sitting with them by appointment, rather than walk-ins. So the space not only displays stock but also provides a comfortable place to sit with the customer either in the front of the store or in the private viewing space, which is provided privacy by the polished metal prism screens.

The central corian display case is placed as a series of layers, inspired by the layers of earth that the stones and metals are mined from in their creation. The other display cases and wall display cases are minimal in their form and articulation to reduce distraction from the products they display.
